How Roger Sharpe Helped Saved Pinball With a Perfect Shot
For those not familiar with this famous pinball story, Gizmodo published an excellent piece on Roger Sharpe’s “Babe Ruth” pinball shot that helped lift the infamous pinball ban in New York City. At the time, Pinball was illegal in New York City. The Music and Amusement Association arranged a hearing to attempt to overturn the ban, with Roger Sharpe as their star witness to prove that pinball was a game of skill, not chance. On games set up in the courtroom, Roger demonstrated to the skeptical representatives that he could call a shot and make it. This feat, coupled with eloquent testimony, helped set the gears in motion for legalizing pinball once again.
