Pinball Party Game Ideas

Hosting a party? Break the ice and get everyone flippin’ with these fun formats:

🏌️‍♂️ Pingolf Tournament

Objective: Like golf, the lower your score (ball count or flips) the better!

Setup:

    • Choose 3–9 pinball machines.

Assign each one an objective. (e.g., hit the left ramp, start multiball, score 5M points).

    • Players try to reach the goal in the fewest balls.

Scoring: Each ball used = 1 stroke. If goal not achieved, assign max strokes (e.g., 5).

🧍‍♂️ Stall Ball

Objective: Keep the ball alive—stall the game—until you’re the last one flippin’!

How to Play:

  • Pick a Game with a Good Stall Point
Choose a machine with a feature that briefly holds the ball. Look for things like:

    • Inside scoop shots

    • Saucers that hold the ball for a second before kicking it out

    • VUKs (Vertical Up-Kickers)

    • Ball locks or spinning scoops

    • Any area that causes a delay before returning the ball to play

  • Form a Line
All players stand in a single file line.

  • Start the Game
The first player steps up and launches the ball.

  • Stall the Ball
The player must quickly find a way to “stall” the ball—get it into a scoop, saucer, or area that gives them time. As soon as the ball is stalled:

    • The player steps to the left or right away from the machine and back to the end of the line.

      • Tip: Announce which way to exit, so there aren't collisions!

  • Next Player’s Turn
The next person in line must sprint to the flippers and take over before the ball drains. They then do the same—find a stall, escape left, and return to the back of the line.

  • If You Drain, You're Out!
If a player lets the ball drain during their turn—whether by flubbing the flippers or failing to reach the machine in time—they’re eliminated from the round.

  • Last Player Standing Wins
Keep the cycle going until there's one skilled staller left! That person wins bragging rights and eternal pinball glory.

🎉 Pro Tips:

  • Play with just one ball per game (disable extra balls if possible).

  • Make it even harder with a timer or by banning cradling.

  • Add music and a hype announcer for max energy!

  • Up the ante with Tommy Dollars! # IYKYK

⚡ Tips for Picking Stall Ball Machines:

  • Look for machines with multiple scoops, saucers, or lock shots

  • Games with physical ball holds (VUKs, subway systems) are perfect

  • Avoid games with ultra-fast flows unless you want a hardcore challenge!

🤝 Split-Flipper

Objective: Two players, one machine, pure alignment.

How to Play:

  • One player controls the left flipper.

  • The other player controls the right.

  • Communication is the key to big points!

Great For: Date nights, kids, or spontaneous team-ups. Try mini-tournaments or go head-to-head against other pairs.
