Restorer of the Month – February 2022

This month’s laborer of love is Randy Walker – located in Maryville, TN between Knoxville, TN and the Smokey Mountains. A long time repair tech, Randy has begun to delve deeper into the restoration side of this hobby.

I have only been doing [repair/restoration work] professionally for 3 years. Before that is was just for myself and a few friends

Q: When did you get into actually restoring machines?

A: “Well, I have been repairing and restoring pins for about 30 years. But I have only been doing it professionally for 3 years. Before that is was just for myself and a few friends.”

Q: What is your current project?

A: “I am currently restoring an Addams Family for one of the Engineers on the James Webb Telescope. It is getting the full treatment and will be better than new when finished. It got a new playfield, every piece of plastic is new, every single bit of metal has been removed and polished, or replaced and polished, the wiring harness has been removed and cleaned, every mechanical part has been rebuilt and tons of mod added! It is going to be one of the nicest Addams Family tables around!”

Q: Do you restore games to sell or to keep?

A: “Both, and I restore them for others as well. My business, Randy’s Pinball Repair and Sales, prides itself on bringing your tables back to their former glory. I especially like when I can bring one back to life, that has sat broken and neglected for decades.”

My business, Randy’s Pinball Repair and Sales, prides itself on bringing your tables back to their former glory.

Q: What was the hardest restoration you worked on and which one were you most proud of?

A: “That is a tough question. I am proud of all of them as I pour my heart and soul into each and every table I work on. The hardest one would probably be the Maverick that I am restoring for myself. I bought it as an absolute wreck and over the last year, I have been slowly bringing it back to life and making it look new again. The one I am most proud of, is probably this Addams Family I am doing. The client has allowed me to pretty much do it to any level I want… so we went for 11!”

Q: Do you have any future projects planned?

A: “My next two restorations are a High Speed that spent time in the elements and a Black Knight that is moving with its owner into a retirement community. It will be there for all the residents to play! Both of those will be getting Hardtops to repair the playfields and provide years of great looks!”

Q: If someone would like to contact you for restoration/maintenance service, where are you located, what areas do you service and what is your contact information?

A: “We are a full service Pinball repair shop in Maryville Tennessee. We can repair or restore your pin to any level you desire. We can locate a specific pin for you, or sell yours on consignment or buy them out right. . We offer onsite services for East Tennessee and we offer in shop service for clients from all over!
